CityCycle Brisbane

CityCycle is an active and sustainable public transport option aimed at reducing traffic congestion and parking pressures in the inner city. 

CityCycle is open to residents and visitors to Brisbane over 17 years of age. CityCycle bike hire stations are located at key inner city destinations linking to bus, train and ferry connections.

CityCycle stations are being delivered in two stages. Stage one is operating now and includes over 1,000 bikes at 104 stations located in Brisbane city, Fortitude Valley, New Farm, Newstead, Kangaroo Point, South Brisbane and West End. Construction of stage two will commence shortly and will include stations located at Milton, Toowong, the University of Queensland and South Bank. Later this year CityCycle will offer up to 2,000 bikes at 150 stations.

Specific features of the bikes

Easy to handle and robust, CityCycle bikes are specifically designed for urban use.

Bike features:
- three gears, a basket on the front and adjustable seat
- a lock and chain to secure the bike temporarily when not at a station
- a covered chain and brake wires to protect clothing and a step-through frame for easy mount and dismount.
Safety features:
- road safety tips and bike information on the handle bars
- front and rear automatic lights
- front and rear brakes
- reinforced puncture-proof tyres
- wide handlebars for greater stability
- reflective strips on wheels and pedals
- safety bell.

No experience required

Riverlife’s night kayaking adventures are guided by qualified and experienced instructors, who are happy to cater for individual requirements. No experience is necessary as each session involves full instruction, a safety briefing (where you will learn how to kayak) and all equipment. Participants must be at least 12 years of age. Booking essential.

What you need to bring / wear

  • Clothes that will get wet (board shorts / ¾ pants and T-shirt)
  • Spare change of shorts / ¾ pants
  • No shoes required – we kayak barefoot
  • Hat, sunscreen and sunglasses (optional)
  • Towel (also available for hire)
  • Water bottle (drinks are available for purchase)
  • Complimentary showers and sunscreen are available for your use.
